"Sycylijskie miasteczko rozgrzane słońcem. Środkiem placu w przylegającej do ciała białej sukience idzie kobieta. Jej największym grzechem jest to, że jest piękna. Nie ma mężczyzny, który nie zatrzymałby na niej wzroku, ani kobiety, która potrafiłaby spojrzeć na nią bez zawiści. Takich kobiet jest więcej. Pięknych i znienawidzonych. Sprowadzanych do roli przedmiotu, który się pożąda, ale nie szanuje."
